Things to Do
Golfing
The Beaverhead Golf Course is 9-holes, and 100 acres of grass fairways, bent grass, and large greens with a small creek running through two fairways. Beautiful poplar, pine, and willow trees line the fairways and greens. The Beaverhead’s practice facility includes a driving range, and spacious putting green. Hiking to the “B” and the “M”
The Beaverhead Trails Coalition trailhead is along Ten Mile Road/Reeder Street in Dillon. Your hike could be as short as 30 minutes to 3 hours. Beaverhead Trails Coalition owns 1,114 acres of land on the west edge of Dillon, with 10 miles of trails to enjoy. These trails are for hiking, biking, running and horseback riding. You can enjoy vast views of the Pioneer Mountains to the west and to the east, overlooks Dillon and the Beaverhead River!
Ghost Towns
In Beaverhead County, we have two types of ghost towns:
Well-Preserved Ghost Town – Bannack State Park - Bannack was First Territorial Capital of Montana and the first Montana gold strike!
Ghost Town Ruins – Coolidge in the Beaverhead Deerlodge National Forest - Coolidge was a small town in 1919 created as a silver mining town. It was named after Calvin Coolidge, who was friends with the founder William R. Allen of the Boston-Montana Development Corporation. By 1923, the silver prices had plummeted and the whole operation was in receivership.
